Peace of Mind is a reader-supported newsletter. In this crevice of the internet, you have free access to 15+ guided meditations, as well as newsletters + journaling prompts. If you’d like to receive new content and/or support my work - I invite you to become a free or paid subscriber. Thank you for being here.
For the past 15 months, I’ve offered a paid subscription to my newsletter, sending weekly newsletters, journaling prompts and monthly guided meditations that are all 10+ minutes long. Hundreds of you have been generous enough to support me and my work, paying $5 a month to access these newsletters and meditations. And honestly, that still blows my mind, that you decided that my work is worthy of your investment and of taking up space in your precious inbox. I know how overwhelming all the noise can get.
Lately, things have been changing. As I announced last week, I’m currently writing my first book (!!!), and while I do this, I’m still continuing to work as a full-time therapist, supporting my beloved clients, and am continuing to create regular content on social media. What that means is: time is limited, and so is energy. And if I can just be blunt: I don’t want to half-ass anything I do. I could half-ass weekly newsletters as I pour my energy into the book, but that wouldn’t feel good to me. And it would feel disrespectful to you, actually. Removing the Paywall relieves some of the pressure to deliver weekly content, so that I’m able to full-ass my newsletters. Full-ass is a verb here. Official Oxford definition: to do my best work.
Another thing I’ve been noticing is that a lot of what I’m writing about in my book overlaps with what I write about here on Substack. These two things, writing a book and writing a newsletter, feel like the same corner of my brain. And I need to free up some space in that corner, so that I can full-ass my book, too.
I flirted with the idea of just pausing paid subscriptions, which would have meant that no one is a paid subscriber, and no one can access paid-subscriber-content. But that felt like I was taking something away, because then no one would be able to access most of the work I’ve already posted. That option felt more closed-off, more rooted in scarcity.
So where I’ve landed is that I’m going to remove the Substack Paywall altogether, for the foreseeable future, and allow everyone to access everything I’ve posted. The meditations, the newsletters and the journaling prompts - it’s all free for you to enjoy. Effective now! I went in and unlocked each and every post - with early stages of carpal tunnel to prove it.
This option feels more open, more rooted in abundance and freedom. We want more of that. I’m always writing about the importance of honoring our intuitive nudges, allowing our emotions to exist without criticizing ourselves for it - and this is me taking my own guidance.
Removing the Paywall will allow me to write newsletters more intuitively, less robotically. In giving up the Paywall, it’s easy for my mind to jump to the potential loss of income, to the dip in analytics, but in doing so, I’m creating space to receive something else; more time, more ease, more creative freedom. I’ll be able to write when an idea visits, and write from a place of genuine inspiration.
Really, I just want to write newsletters when I want to, and for people to read my work if they want to, and support me if they want to.
Now I’m going to pretend-ask myself some questions that you may or may not be thinking:
So, what does this mean?
It means that everyone gets access to all the content that I’ve posted: 15 guided meditations and all of my newsletter/journaling prompts. For free :)
And all future newsletters will be free for everyone, as well. No more rules! No more rigidity! More freedom!
Are you going to be sending out new content?
Yes! Just more intuitively, at a more irregular cadence. I want to write newsletters when I’m inspired to write, not when I feel like I “should.” I want to write newsletters because an idea is wanting to pour itself out of me, not just because I have a weekly quota to fill. I’m taking a prolonged pause on new meditations, but you’ll still have access to all of the ones I’ve already shared.
How can I access your guided meditations?
Head over to my Substack page and type in “meditation” in the search bar - it’ll teleport you to all 15 of them! Each meditation has its own theme and focus. I hope they support you.
You can access all my past newsletters/journaling prompts by going to my Substack page, as well. They’re all there, waiting to be read by you!
What if I’m already a paid subscriber?
If you decide that you’d like to continue your subscription to support my work, I thank you from the deepest crevice that exists at the bottom of my heart.
If you’d like to cancel your subscription, I completely understand and I deeply appreciate the support you’ve shown. To cancel, you can go to your account settings > find Peace of Mind > click where it says “cancel your paid subscription.”
If you bought an annual subscription (meaning, you pre-paid for a year of content) and would like a pro-rated refund - I totally get it. Don’t hesitate to email me at hellomegjo@gmail.com and I’ll make that happen. Just make sure the subject line is “refund” and to include the email address related to your Substack account.
15 free guided meditations and free newsletters?! Heck yeah! Can I become a paid subscriber?!
Why, yes! I realize that by removing the Paywall, this may encourage some of you to support this newsletter. If you’d like to support my work, or if my meditations start to become part of your morning routine and you’re like, oooooh this is nice, I wanna support! - I so appreciate it and I thank you whole-heartedly.
In sum: please just do whatever feels good, possible and aligned for you right now. Whether you’re a free or paid subscriber, I cherish you for being here.
Newsletter community - don’t tell the other social media platforms, but you are my favorite. Thank you for your kindness, support and understanding as I evolve, ebb and flow throughout various seasons of life, and allow my content to evolve with me. I’m excited to see what this next season brings for us.
Talk to you soon!
♡ Meg
This is so awesome. I especially resonate with wanting to come from a place of abundance and not scarcity. I need to practice more of that as well. Looking forward to the book and the newsletters when they come!
This is such a happy thing! :) Thank you for your generosity ♥
